Why Pool Painting Fails — And How We Prevent It

Most pool painting jobs on the Gold Coast fail within 2–3 years because the surface preparation is skipped or rushed. Peeling, bubbling and flaking are almost always the result of inadequate prep — not the paint itself.

At Gold Coast Pool Resurfacing, every job starts with a proper drain, pressure wash, acid wash and surface sand. Cracks are repaired before any paint touches the surface. This is the difference between a finish that lasts 5 years and one that lasts 10.

Our Pool Painting Process

• Free quote: We visit, assess and give you a transparent written quote — usually same day.
• Drain & wash: Pool drained, fully pressure washed and acid washed to remove algae, scale and old surface contamination.
• Surface prep: Sanding, crack repair and any delamination treated before painting begins.
• Paint application: 2 or 3 coats of LuxaPool epoxy applied by roller. Each coat is fully cured before the next is applied.
• Cure & refill: We guide you through the correct curing time before refilling so the finish bonds properly.

Pool Types We Paint

• Concrete pools — most common on the Gold Coast. We use LuxaPool epoxy for highest durability.
• Marblesheen pools — requires thorough acid wash before repainting. We assess the surface thoroughly.
• Fibreglass pools — specialist coatings for oxidised or fading fibreglass shells, restoring colour and waterproofing.
